Welcome to SoFI Smart Kitchen. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our application.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect information that is strictly necessary to provide and improve the SoFI experience:

• Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address and authentication tokens via Google Firebase. (Legacy users may be identified by a custom username).
• Kitchen Data: To function as a smart kitchen, we store data you input, including your inventory (fridge/pantry), shopping lists, and recipes.
• Media: Images you upload for recipes or kitchen backgrounds.
• AI Chat History: Transcripts of your conversations with the SoFI AI assistant to maintain conversation context.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and securely manage your user sessions.
• To save your kitchen state, recipes, and shopping lists across devices.
• AI Features: We share your current inventory, shopping list, and chat context with our AI provider (Google Gemini) strictly to generate personalized recipes, cooking advice, and automated shopping list updates based on your direct requests.

3. Third-Party Services We Use

SoFI relies on secure, industry-standard third-party services to operate. By using SoFI, your data is processed through:

• Google Firebase: Used for secure authentication (Email/Password & Google OAuth). Firebase handles your passwords and login tokens securely.
• MongoDB: Our secure database provider where your kitchen data and text-based recipes are stored.
• Google Cloud Storage: Used to host image files you upload.
• Google Gemini (Generative AI): Used to power the chat assistant. Note: As per Google Cloud's enterprise API terms, data sent to the Gemini API via our application is not used by Google to train their foundational AI models.

4. Data Sharing & Visibility

Your personal kitchen data is private. However, SoFI includes a Community Recipe Book. If you explicitly choose to toggle a recipe to "Public", the recipe's text and image will be visible to all registered SoFI users. You can revert this at any time, which will remove it from the public view.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

• Automated Cleanup: When you delete a recipe or change an image, the old image files are automatically deleted from our cloud storage to prevent data retention.
• Account Deletion: You have the right to request the complete deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We do not use tracking cookies for marketing or advertising. SoFI only uses essential session cookies required to keep you securely logged in while using the application.
